From No Deal to Booming Sales

The newsletter has a new format and I can't wait for you to see it!

Hi,

Sorry that I’ve been MIA for the last few weeks! But I am back now and I’ve decided to try a new style with the weekly emails.

I’ve put a poll at the bottom, so please let me know what you think of the new style!

Anyway, let’s get to it!

I decided to take a deep dive into Plop Star, the bathroom deodorizer that was featured on Shark Tank during Season 11.

Plop Star's journey post-Shark Tank is quite intriguing, with several notable developments and challenges.

Plop Star was founded by Tyler Jay, who pitched his innovative bathroom deodorizer on Shark Tank in 2019.

The product is a dissolvable tablet designed to neutralize bathroom odors. Tyler sought an investment of $150,000 in exchange for 10% equity in his company.

Despite his compelling pitch and the product's potential, none of the sharks decided to invest.

Even though he didn’t leave with a deal, things seemed to be going well at first but then took a rough turn.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve grabbed a banana off the counter only to find out that it's rotten.

Ugh!

Thankfully, Sean Adler has come up with a solution: Nana Hats!

These cute little hats go on top of your bananas and extend their ripeness by a few days!

I have a few Nana Hats and they are amazing!

Sean is currently offering free shipping on all orders over $15, but the deal won’t last long. So be sure to get your Nana Hats before it’s gone!

After airing on Shark Tank, Plop Star experienced a surge in popularity. The product was primarily sold online and reviews indicated that customers appreciated the convenience and effectiveness of the deodorizing tablets.

Despite the early success, Plop Star encountered several challenges that hindered its growth.

By mid-2021, the company's social media presence began to dwindle, with a noticeable decline in activity. This drop in engagement raised questions about the company's operational status and future plans.

Simultaneously, the product started to become less available. By July 2021, Plop Star was no longer listed on Amazon, and the company's website indicated that the product was out of stock.

These developments suggested potential supply chain issues or other internal challenges that were not publicly disclosed.

In December 2021, Plop Star made an attempt to revive its brand by introducing a new product: a spray version of the original deodorizing formula.

This move was aimed at diversifying the product line and catering to customers who might prefer a spray over tablets.

And it looks like it worked! As of today, Plop Star's deodorizing tablets and spray are still available for purchase on Amazon.

The tablets even have an Amazon’s Choice badge!

So despite some initial struggles, it looks like Tyler figured out how to make Plop Star a success after all!

That’s all for this week! What did you think about the new format? Please take a second to vote in the poll below!
